Dear Honorable Governor Christie:
I am requesting mercy on behalf of Maria Jose Carrascosa by utilizing the authority vested in you to reconsider her sentence by granting her clemency.
Mrs. Carrascosa was recently sentenced to 14 years by Bergen County Superior Court Judge Donald Venezzia for a crime she did not commit under Spanish Law. This is a case of pre-existing jurisprudence and I respectfully request an inquiry into the trial proceedings and to why abovementioned judge did not allow pertinent evidence to be entered and witness testimony to be heard.
Mrs. Carrascosa is physically ill and is not receiving adequate medical assistance nor the medication needed at Bergen County Jail. Her daughter in Spain needs her mother alive and well, and the judicial check mate created by Judge Venezzia is not serving anyone.
I pray that you will honor this request for leniency and either assist in Maria Jose’s extradition back to Spain or have a commission investigate the matter presented.
